In 1993, a small group of Christians formed Hope Christian Church with the desires to teach the truths of the Bible and to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ locally and around the world. Initially the church met on Sunday afternoons in a private home and later in a church basement. In September of 1993, Sunday morning services commenced at the Lynch School in Winchester and in August 1994, we hired our first Teaching Elder, who served through August 2007. Hope Christian Church purchased its present location at 58 Mount Vernon Street, Winchester, Massachusetts in August 1997.

The growth of the church led to a growth in staff and ministry reach. Today we have a Teaching Elder and Community Life Elder, an Associate Pastor for the Next Generation and a part time Office Administrator.  We also have numerous lay leaders who lead ministry teams and serve the church with dedication and commitment – go to our Ministries page for more information. We want to be marked as a community in which every member has a role, every member is growing in Christ and every member is reaching out into the broader community with missional focus.

We have always maintained a high emphasis on missions. We support 16 individuals, couples or organizations around the world and commit over 20% of our income annually to their support. We place a strong emphasis on Sunday school, offering classes to all ages including adults. We believe that our youth are vitally important to our community and have always placed a high level of resources relative to the size of church to nurture them and prepare them for adulthood. Finally, on September 1, 2009, we launched a new church, operating under the name, GENESIS, which was originally a ministry of our church to young adults.  The church meets in the adjacent town of Woburn.
